Broadband in the Allen Valleys

Our speaker on 12th August was one of our own members, Brian Bell, who gave a very illuminating power point presentation on B4AV.  This is a £100,000 community group project working to improve internet accessibility and speed throughout the Allen valleys.  Working in partnership with Broadband for the Rural North, B4AV is hoping to install fibre cabling over an area of 81 square miles covering the west and east Allen valleys and through to Langley.  This core network will be installed by a mix of local contractors and volunteers.  The group have been working over the last year to secure agreements with landowners to install the fibre cabling under their land but B4AV feel that enough cabling has now been installed to start connecting users to this network.   The first user to benefit will be the Allendale Primary School.
